SHFC, housing agencies kick off National Women’s Month with advocacy walk

The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and other key shelter agencies (KSAs) launched the 2025 National Women’s Month celebration on February 28 with the first Inter-KSA Advocacy Walk at Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.
The walk marked the official start of the month long celebration, held under the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.” The event highlighted the housing sector’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women in the workforce.
DHSUD Undersecretary Henry Yap, in his opening remarks, said women play a vital role in nation-building and called for strengthening their participation in the housing sector.
Atty. Maria Rosalie Richa Taguian, SHFC Vice President for Program Development and Enhancement Group, spoke on behalf of SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa. She reaffirmed SHFC’s commitment to advancing gender equality and expanding programs that promote women’s empowerment.
The event was attended by SHFC Mega Manila Group Vice President Elsa Juliana Calimlim, Insurance and Community Enhancement Department Manager Cezar Macaspac, DHSUD Assistant Secretaries Krsnadasi De Leon and Melissa Aradanas, and officials and employees from SHFC, DHSUD, the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation, the Home Development Mutual Fund, the National Housing Authority, and the Human Settlements Adjudication Commission.
The advocacy walk, the first organized by KSAs, highlighted the housing sector’s unity in championing women’s rights and set the tone for the sector’s observance of National Women’s Month.
